Questions people actually ask
Section 8 company, trust or society — which is best?
A Section 8 company has the strongest governance and the highest credibility with institutional donors and CSR funders, because it files with the MCA. A trust is cheapest and quickest. A society sits between the two.
Can a Section 8 company distribute profit?
No. Income must be applied to promoting its objects, and no dividend may be paid to members. That restriction is what makes the tax exemptions available.
